Christmas

We enjoyed a quiet Christmas at home. A few presents, yummy food from our friends, and Kaylee's favorite - a Christmas play with her nativity figurines. We went at a later time to visit with the Grandmothers, where Kaylee was, of course, outrageously and lovingly spoiled.

Her favorite gifts this year:

An inexpensive headlamp from Mom and Dad

Also, she enjoyed her gift from cousin Sharon. Thanks again for the remote helicopter, also, as those two kids (her Dad being the other kid) have had the best time with it!

On a side note, we decided not to teach Kaylee that Santa brought her gifts on Christmas. Not that kids believing in Santa is right or wrong, it is just a choice that we thought best for our family. I was worried when we decided on this route about Kaylee debunking Santa for other kids. I had a long discussion with her about not doing that. Turns out that the little kids don't even discuss Santa. The confusion came from the adults. Adults, both friends and strangers, would ask Kaylee what Santa was bringing/brought her for Christmas. Her response - Santa Claus is not real. I have never seen so many adults rendered speechless by a four year old - it was hilarious!Their response to her was to 1) stare at her in befuddlement, then walk away without a word 2) stare first at her then at me in befuddlement, then walk away 3) reassure her that Santa was indeed real. I am not sure what Frank and I will do next Christmas season.
